Resources

This is an evolving list of resources that I have found useful. This is mostly for me (because I keep forgetting!). But, I hope it is useful for others as well.

Writing Resources

Research Papers

  1. Keith Head’s The Introduction Formula
  2. Marc Bellamere’s The Middle Bits
  3. Marc Bellamere’s The Conclusion
  4. Improve Readability of your paper by Warren et al. (2021). They also have a website to check for clarity here.
  5. Crafting a JMR manuscript by Reinartz (2016).

Reading, Discussing, Reviewing Papers

  1. Here are some notes that I have used in the past on being an effective discussant.
  2. Somes notes and resources on reading paper are compiled here.
  3. 20 Rules for Refereeing by Marc Bellamere.

\(\LaTeX\) and Quarto Stuff

  1. Tips+Tricks with Beamer for Economists by Paul Goldsmith-Pinkham.
  2. Annotate equations in \(\LaTeX\) - There is a \(\LaTeX\) package called annotate equations. The author’s GitHub examples are here.
    • This can also be implemented in Quarto – see https://lpembleton.rbind.io/posts/annotate-equations/. For reasons that I cant understand, this DOESNT work for reveal.js presentations. Only html and pdfs generated thru Quarto.

Methods and Coding advice

Methods

  1. Anything by Andrew Heiss Blog
    1. How to use Bayesian propensity scores and inverse probability weights
    2. The ultimate practical guide to multilevel multinomial conjoint analysis with R
